Highly recommend this, pun intended, hidden gem. The people who ran it were amazing, passionate, and knowledgeable. They had so much care put in so that kids and adults both would enjoy it.

Took my wife and we both had a blast. I'm a museum nut and I loved it. I'm happy our guide was able to get my wife excited and enjoying herself. Will return again next time I'm in the area

Highly recommend to call before to make an appointment for the wonderful course they offer for a very reasonable price. My middle school and elementary school girls both enjoyed the class. We have been to so many big science museums but their class was so interactive and amazing. My girls said they want to give 1000 stars. We will definitely be back for more classes!!

You will not look at rocks, minerals, even planet earth as the same after visiting. The gift shop is awesome.

The Rock museum in Scotland Neck is a true gem. Kelly (who largely collected the specimens) has a deep understanding of Geology, fossils and minerals. He has a passion for teaching others and shares his knowledge with enthusiasm.

The museum is located a couple of miles from the Sylvan Heights bird park which is the main attraction of the town. The museum is well worth a visit. It will surely inspire youngsters.

Housed in what was once a day care, the Rock Museum is a celebration of the planet earth and its history. On display is one couple’s passion for fossils, rocks, gems, and how they formed. One room houses an extensive collection of old glass bottles. Other displays include a large amethyst crystal, fossils of all kinds, dinosaur bones, petrified wood, coprolite, and many rock formations of all kinds. The building hosts classes for kids all of ages. Don’t expect the presentation that you’d see at a museum of natural history. However in many ways there’s more rocks to examine and you can be more hands on here, and the passion of the owners shines through.

Wow! We just left and had a really great time! We got walked through the museum, learned lots about minerals, rocks, gemstones and fossils. My kids were able to touch lots of things which always makes things more fun and helps the information stick. We will 110% be back and recommend to anyone and everyone! Pack a picnic lunch, head to the bird park in town (eat lunch there) and head to the rock museum for a really fun and educational day.
